Waldorf College of Forest City, Iowa has filed an application with the Iowa College Student Aid Commission for approval and registration in the state of Iowa under Chapter 261B of the Iowa Code. The College is presently owned by an Iowa non-profit corporation, and is proposing to be acquired by a for-profit corporation under the ownership of Mayes Education, Inc. an Iowa corporation. Mayes Education is owned by Columbia Southern University of Orange Beach, Alabama. Waldorf College proposes to offer the following degrees within the state of Iowa:
Chapter 261B of the Iowa Code, as amended by Senate File 270 of the 2009 session of the Iowa General Assembly, requires that the Company be approved and registered by the Iowa College Student Aid Commission. The Commission may consider comments from the Iowa Coordinating Council for Post High School Education that are received by the Commission within ninety days of the filing of the application, which is December 21, 2009. If the Coordinating Council meets to consider comments for submission to the Commission, the meeting is required to be open to the public and subject to the provisions of Iowa Code Chapter 21. The Commission is required to take action on the application by March 21, 2010. Columbia Southern University officials have asked to discuss the proposed acquisition with the Iowa College Student Aid Commission, at a meeting to be held in November. The date of the meeting will be announced. |
